Provincial Nominee Programs

Provincial Nominee Programs allow Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in settling in a particular province. A provincial nomination adds 600 points to your CRS score.

How PNP Works

Each province and territory (except Quebec and Nunavut) operates its own PNP with multiple streams targeting different categories of immigrants. Most PNPs have at least one stream aligned with the federal Express Entry system.

Express Entry Streams

Aligned with federal Express Entry. Nomination adds 600 CRS points, substantially increasing selection probability for an ITA.

Base Streams

Not aligned with Express Entry. Applications processed through paper-based provincial nomination.

Benefits of Provincial Nomination

1

600 CRS Points

Express Entry-aligned nominations add 600 points, substantially increasing selection probability for an ITA.

2

Lower CRS Requirements

Some PNP draws have significantly lower CRS cutoffs than federal draws.

3

Targeted Occupations

Provinces prioritize TEER categories matching their specific labor market needs.

4

Alternative Pathway

Base PNP streams offer options for those not eligible for Express Entry.

PNP Streams

  • Skilled Worker Streams
  • International Graduate Streams
  • Entrepreneur/Business Streams
  • Semi-Skilled Streams
  • Express Entry Streams

Important Note

Quebec operates its own immigration system separate from the PNP. If you wish to immigrate to Quebec, you must apply through Quebec's immigration programs.
