Provincial Nominee Program

British Columbia PNP

The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) nominates skilled workers, health authority employees, and graduates for permanent residence through a points-based registration system.

2026 allocation: 5,254 nominations — significantly reduced from pre-2025 levels, with priority given to high-wage workers and healthcare professionals. A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile.

Express Entry Connection — 600 CRS Points

Every BC PNP stream has an Express Entry BC (EEBC) mirror. Candidates with an active federal Express Entry profile who receive a BC nomination automatically receive 600 additional CRS points — effectively guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next federal draw. January–February 2026 draws required a minimum registration score of 135 or a wage of $62/hour.

BC PNP Streams

  • Full-time, permanent job offer from a BC employer required
  • TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in the past 10 years
  • Language proficiency appropriate to the occupation
  • BC PNP registration score determines whether you receive an invitation — scored on wage, job location, work experience, and education
  • Express Entry BC mirror stream: requires active federal EE profile (FSW, CEC, or FST eligible)
Processing: BC PNP issues invitations through regular draws. Registration scores compete against all other active registrations in the same category.
Strategic note: In 2026, BC prioritized high-wage workers. Minimum invitation score is 135 (points) or wage ≥$62/hour (~$125,000/year). Applicants below this wage threshold in lower-cost regions face very competitive draws.

Where Most BC PNP Registrations Fail

Registration score not reached in draws — score depends on wage, NOC code, and BC region; not all registrations receive invitations
BC employer does not meet eligibility criteria — some staffing agency, self-owned, or related-party employers are excluded
ELSS: 9-month continuous employment requirement not met — part-time periods or brief gaps disqualify
Occupation listed on BC PNP's Ineligible Occupation list (updated periodically)
Language test results expired or from a non-accepted provider
Express Entry BC: federal EE profile not active at time of registration
Related pathways: Recent BC graduates on a Post-Graduation Work Permit should assess the IPG stream before their permit expires. Workers seeking employer-supported options may also explore LMIA-backed job offers to strengthen registration scores.
