Atlantic Immigration Program — Also Available
"The Atlantic Immigration Program is an employer-driven, federal immigration program designed to help fill permanent labour shortages and skill gaps in your business by supporting skilled foreign workers and international graduates for permanent residency." "To be eligible to endorse a foreign national, you must first be a PEI Designated Employer." If PEI approves the endorsement, the employer forwards the Certificate of Endorsement to the candidate "so they can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency." Since January 24, 2025, "PEI will only accept new endorsement application packages for workers in the healthcare, construction and manufacturing sectors", and "Transport Truck Driver applications (NOC 73300) are not being accepted under Prince Edward Island's Atlantic Immigration Program" (AIP Endorsement Application). Designated employers must have been "in continuous, active operation under the same management for at least two years in the Atlantic Region" and hire "full-time, non-seasonal international candidates, at a minimum of 30 hours/week in PEI" (AIP Employer Designation Application).
PEI PNP Streams
- Skilled Worker: "have a full-time, non-seasonal (permanent or minimum of two years) job offer from a PEI employer in a high skilled occupation defined by the Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibility classification system as TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3"; "have at least two years of full-time work experience in the past five years"; "have successfully completed a post-secondary degree or diploma (minimum two year program)"; and "be between the ages of 18 and 59" (Skilled Workers in PEI).
- Skilled Worker language: "a language test from an IRCC approved testing institute within the past two years with a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 4", or the PEIW-02 Workforce Job Offer Form "indicating employer is comfortable with the employee's proficiency in English and/or French".
- Outside Canada: "The Skilled Worker Stream may be utilized for talent recruitment outside of Canada, if the Prince Edward Island Employer has received authorization from the Office of Immigration prior to issuing a job offer." The Intermediate Experience and Occupations in Demand streams carry the same note (Immigrate to PEI as a Worker).
- Critical Worker: "have a full-time, non-seasonal (i.e. permanent or minimum of two years) job offer from a PEI employer in an intermediate skilled position", defined "as TEER category 4 or 5"; "have a minimum of six months full-time, continuous work experience with the PEI employer"; "have a valid work permit and legal status in Canada"; "possess a minimum education of secondary school diploma"; "be between the ages of 18 and 59"; and a language test "with a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 4" (Critical Workers).
- International Graduate: "have graduated from a publicly-funded Prince Edward Island institution", "have a full-time, non-seasonal (i.e. permanent or minimum of two years) job offer from a PEI employer" and "have a valid post-graduate work permit and legal status in Canada". For TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 jobs, the employer confirms language ability on the PEIW-02 Workforce Job Offer Form; for TEER 4 or 5 jobs, a test result "with a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 4" is required (International Graduates).
- Intermediate Experience: a job offer "in an intermediate-skilled position, defined by the Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibility classification system as TEER category 4"; "have a minimum of six months full-time Canadian work experience that was gained while on a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) based work permit"; "have a minimum two years of full-time work experience or relevant education in the past five years"; and CLB/NCLC 4 (Intermediate Experience Stream).
- Occupations in Demand: "a full-time, non-seasonal permanent job offer from a PEI employer" in NOC 33102, 73300, 75110, 65310, 95109, 75101, 94140 or 94141, and "have one year, full-time work experience directly related to the job offered by a PEI employer", with secondary school and CLB/NCLC 4 (Occupations in Demand).
- Every Workforce stream requires applicants to "demonstrate a genuine intention to settle in PEI" and "have sufficient financial resources to pay all immigration costs (including travel expenses) for you and your family to be able to establish in PEI".
