Provincial Nominee Program

New Brunswick NBPNP

New Brunswick's Provincial Nominee Program offers multiple pathways including employer-supported streams, the Atlantic Immigration Program, and pathways for French-speaking workers in Canada's only officially bilingual province.

2026 allocation: approximately 1,750 nominations, plus Atlantic Immigration Program designations processed federally. French language ability significantly improves competitiveness in all NB streams.

Bilingual Province Advantage

New Brunswick is Canada's only officially bilingual province. French-language proficiency is rewarded in all NBPNP streams and is a requirement for employer-supported applications targeting French-language service positions. Applicants with CLB 7+ in both English and French receive the highest language scores in the points grid.

NBPNP Streams

  • Full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a New Brunswick employer required
  • TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in the past 5 years in a related occupation
  • Language: CLB 4 minimum (higher for TEER 0–1)
  • Employer must have made genuine efforts to hire locally before offering to a foreign worker
  • Wage at or above the New Brunswick median wage for the occupation
Processing: Applications processed on a continuous basis. Faster than draw-based systems used in larger provinces.
Strategic note: New Brunswick's small labour pool and high reliance on immigration means employer support is often easier to obtain than in larger provinces. However, the province will flag if the employer has a history of non-compliance with immigration or labour laws.

Where Most NBPNP Applications Fail

Employer has not obtained Designated Employer status for AIP — cannot submit AIP applications without it
Critical Worker Pilot: occupation not on the current approved list for the active intake round
Employer did not demonstrate local recruitment efforts before extending the job offer
Language test below the threshold for the stream or occupation TEER level
Settlement plan not credible — NBPNP and AIP require evidence of genuine intent to remain in NB
Business stream: exploratory visit not completed before application or net worth below threshold
Related pathways: Candidates using the Express Entry Labour Market stream need an active federal profile. Workers needing initial authorization to work in New Brunswick should review employer-specific work permit requirements first.
